Just about square, with a tilting-out front door, and a metal liner inside – the metal liner has handles to lift it out for cleaning / re-loadingthis is why i have put “(a/f)” (or as found) in the titleapart from that, it appears to be in good, original conditionoriginal ornate brass handles and plates, one each side, one on the frontantique victorian/edwardian purdonium (coal box), mahogany, approx(if these cannot be properly restored, one option would be to remove the gallery completely, and maybe put a glass top on the boxit is quite heavy – kgthe ‘floor’ has reinforcing blocks underneath, for extra strength (see last photo)condition it has (or had) a pillared gallery around 3 sides of the top – unfortunately, 1 side and the back (still joined) have come off, and several of the baluster-shaped pillars are missing (see 2nd photo)51x35x34 cm (a/f) here is a general description, but please refer to the photographsi’m pretty certain it’s mahogany, but i’m not knowledgeable about woods
