antique victorian/edwardian purdonium (coal box), mahogany, approxi’m pretty certain it’s mahogany, but i’m not knowledgeable about woodsapart from that, it appears to be in good, original conditionthis is why i have put “(a/f)” (or as found) in the titlejust about square, with a tilting-out front door, and a metal liner inside – the metal liner has handles to lift it out for cleaning / re-loading51x35x34 cm (a/f) here is a general description, but please refer to the photographsoriginal ornate brass handles and plates, one each side, one on the frontcondition it has (or had) a pillared gallery around 3 sides of the top – unfortunately, 1 side and the back (still joined) have come off, and several of the baluster-shaped pillars are missing (see 2nd photo)it is quite heavy – kg(if these cannot be properly restored, one option would be to remove the gallery completely, and maybe put a glass top on the boxthe ‘floor’ has reinforcing blocks underneath, for extra strength (see last photo)
