Leucistic and wild type baby axolotls, currently eating bloodwormpersonally advise against the sand until they are a good 3 inches minimum due to them sucking their food up like a hoover when eatinghave to recommend extremely fine sand as same can apply, children’s play sand is a common favouritehides are a mustyour tank will need cycling prior to putting axolotls in (loads about it on google) when big enough to go into your tankthey do occasionally nip (due to mistaking the other ones limbs as food) but any lost limbs will grow back (only don’t in rare cases)if in the summer it appears warm, freeze a bottle of water and pop into the tank to help keep it downoccasional treats of bloodworm, daphnia, raw shrimp, good pelletsjust rinse in the tank waterif you use it, give it a goooood rinse out before putting it inmust only live with other axolotl if anything, no fishalso by adding things such as soap dishes to your tank as places for them to sit makes more room for themno lights due to them having no eye lidsif having more than one, ensure they’re fed regularly to avoid nippingthey will eat the fish, or the fish may attack your axolotl, limbs and gills! the longer the tank the better, it’s floor space that’s importantlow flow filter, too high a flow can stress themcollection only codnordon’t wash your filter when tank cleaning as it will get rid of all the good bacteriadendrobaena worms (earthworms) are the main dietanything small enough to go in their mouth more than likely willno gravel or pebbles as they can eat it and become impacted so stick to sand or bare bottomled lights can be used but it appears to stress the axolotl, removesponge filters with an attached tube airline are brilliantif you have a baby and still tubbed, daily water changes required ?? no heaters to be usedaxolotl thrive in degrees cit’s advised 2ft per adult axi, with an additional foot for each additional onecan be anything from slate caves to simple plastic piping (cheap enough from diy shops) they can live on their own or with othersparents are in the pictures
