The tone is strong, yet mellow, rich and 'woody', in fact it sounds just like a viola should! this instrument has hardly been played in the few years i have owned it, so please someone, buy it and play it, it's a bargain! i'm selling it at a very reasonable price for the quality of the instrumentthis viola measures 15 inches from purfling to purfling on the back, which means it's a medium size, it's probably chinese, and not fancy, but it sounds very good and plays easilyit comes with a case and a bowit's back is quite plain, with hardly any figuring, and it is in very good condition, with no cracks, scratches or damage of any kind
