World war 1 british srd rum jar used to transport the army rum ration to soldiers in the front line on the western front and elsewhere 'srd' stands for supply reserve depot, although soldiers translated it as 'seldom reaches destination' amongst other things this one was found on the somme battlefield and has the makers mark of pearsons of chesterfield stamped onto the base see my other ads for many more ww1 items overall a quite pleasant looking object to have and mark the centenary of the end of the great war and as an aid to teaching the young about the war and to contribute to the many school projects that will come in september unfortunately as the jar weighs 4kg i have to charge for delivery, which will be tracked and signed for
