Good Value and Easy to construct

For the price this is a really good buy. Sturdy enough when erected for my sweet peas and clematis plants. I like it because you see the plants not the frame. Very easy to put together on my own although instructions say need two people. You don't. Stick the upright into the ground, attach two ring pieces to the upright then add the next upright sticking it into the ground and do the same with the other two upright pieces so you end up up with all four complete with the first level of horizontal pieces stuck into the ground. I stuck them into the lawn no problem. You then have a stable frame work to build up the next level. I found it easier fixing the the top four curved pieces with the decal on top before completing the top horizontal layer. Whole job took 15 minutes. Hope you find this helpful.

  • Most critical review

One out of two arches could only be constructed!

This is my second purchase of these arches, the first two went together fine all the pieces were there, the second purchase this month did not go so well all the pieces are there but 5 of the upright struts had no holes drilled in them so only one was able to be erected as I had to use pieces from the second to complete. I have been in touch with the sender and after a few emails they are sending out the pieces to put this right, as this has only been sorted out this morning I cant comment any further until the pieces arrive and are correct. The value is very good £19.99 for the pair delivered, but of course if you can only construct one out of two then it's very disappointing and a bit frustrating. We will see....

  • What I expected

I knew it wasn't going to be top quality, and it probably won't last forever, but it was easy to set up, looks great. Reasonably sturdy if you really tighten those screws. I bought some silicon to cover all the joints and screws, to hopefully extend the lifetime as that's where rust would start to set in. Pushing it into the ground, I was mindful of trying not to bend it. Haven't had anything climb up it yet, as it's early in the season.

  • Looks Good !

This is a lightweight metal obelisk and is good value for money. Placed in the ground to a suitable depth (depending on clay or sandy soil). It is easy to assemble even by one person.

  • Economical/lightweight-great potato frames!

Already had 15 last year- great for containing your potato shaws in grow-bags to stop flopping/breakages without hassle of stakes/ ties etc; best to glue on foot caps, maybe paint c Hammerite if you're planning multi-year seasonal use too. Alternatives might be more robust, but would just be too expensive - a great product if your growbags are on hard surface/you've run out of planting area.

  • Not just an obelisk

I have bought several of these obelisks in recent years. They are very versatile kits. Apart from an obelisk, the pieces can be used in all sorts of ways, eg to make a sequence of arcs along a bare fence to support climbers and shrubs. Even some of the small bendy bits can be used with plastic sheeting to make mini polytunnels over troughs for growing salad crops. A good buy.

  • Worth the money and easy to erect

It's worth the money even though it's quite lightweight. It is made of quite thin painted tubular steel but it does the job well enough and fixes together easily. Once built it is sturdy enough. How you stake it will make a big difference, I did not push it into the soil to prevent it from rotting over time. I staked each leg independently and fixed the legs to the stakes with cable ties. It should last 3 or 4 years if not longer so at the price a good buy..

  • A good product for the price

Adequate garden obelisk that was reasonably easy to assemble on my own, although the instructions recommend two people. My tip would be to start with the top section (it is in three sections with nuts and bolts to hold the tension bands and upright supports). Starting with the top section will help stabilize the obelisk and make attaching the remaining sections a bit easier. For the price, this is a decent product.. I purchased two and checked all parts carefully as soon as the item arrived. There was a slight manufacturing problem - two of the tension bands were fused together by the powder coating. I've given the product 4 starts because for the price it is functional and, once constructed, stable.

  • Brilliant IF YOU IGNORE THE INSTRUCTIONS!!!

Excellent product and exactly as promised BUT - the instructions are best ignored. The bottom 4 struts labelled b) and e) are completely mis-labelled on the drawings!!! Ignore the drawings and basically just flow from bottom left right over the arch to bottom right in one direction and you'll be OK. Very frustrating when you get to the end and realise YOU are not wrong it is the instructions/drawings. Hopefully the suppliers will have updated the instructions by the time you are reading this! Good luck, be patient, it's worth it in the end!! Great quality for the money.

  • Returning customer very pleased with the 'easy to assemble' metal garden arch.

I bought one of these arches a couple of years ago and it's still in position. Never having had any problems with this item I have just purchased 3 more. They are wonderful for climbing plants. Although I am disabled I have managed to assemble the metal garden arches myself as the instructions are very clear.
