This Duratool desoldering station is one of those items that you never knew you needed until you try one. It makes light work of desoldering components from the older feed through hole type of printed circuit boards, so much better than the one shot, spring loaded solder suckers I have used in the past.It comes with a variety of nozzles to suit different size component leads. It is tempearature conrolled and quite fast to heat up to the selected operating temperature. The filters that catch the solder droplets are easy to remove for cleaning or replacement.I have used this desoldering station for well over a year and it still works well. It comes supplied with cleaning probes for the tip, a sponge and a good quality IEC mains lead.Highly recommended.

This tool works well, its possible to buy replacement nozzles, heating elements, air filters, unblocking needles, even a complete gun assembly. The unit does have actual temperature sensing and its reasonably accurate (measured using a hakko temperature sensor). Heat up times are not as fast as a hakko fx888d but ok. The display shows actual tip temperature and it is easy to set the target temperature. The vacuum pump is noisy but sucks solder out of joints fairly well. My only criticisms are relatively minor. 1. you have to take the lid of the base unit if you want to calibrate the temperature sensor 2. the 3 screws which hold the heating tip onto the handle just bite into plastic and are a weak point between the handle and the element.

The desoldering tools works like a charm. If you need to desolder something that has to go well, vintage hifi for example, this is the best way. No messing with tape or suckers, pull the trigger and the vacume pump just purrs into life. Well worth the money and by far cheaper than the competitors.

This arrived today, and all seemed OK on initial switch on. Element heated up, and temp could be changed. However, when I pulled the trigger on the gun nothing happened (no pump noise). Checking continuity on the gun trigger to the connector showed that the switch was operating OK. SO, the cover had to come off. All looking good internally, but when I looked at the connections to the pump, one of the wires was not connected. I have now repaired that, but I'm NOT impressed with the build quality. The unit itself now works very well, I AM impressed with the functionality overall. Just the build quality lets it down. So, 3 stars overall.

First impressions are good. Desoldering is fast and effective with good suction and plenty of power to maintain heat on larger components. Could have come with a few extra filters for the desolder gun as these don't last many emptying cycles of the gun, it only comes with 2 spares.. I've only had it 3 weeks and so far very happy. The soldering side does just what it says on the tin.
