Good print quality, relatively simple to set up once you delete most of hp's "kitchen sink" bloatware. I mean, seriously, who needs a special function on the printer control panel to download and print a sheet of graph paper, or 6 separate games designed solely to use paper and toner so they can sell you more? But if you ignore all that it's actually a decent little colour printer. One significant feature is that this is probably one of the last hp printers where you can turn off the toner security policy, allowing 3rd party toners to be used. The m255 cannot turn this off, forcing genuine hp toners to be used at £400/set, instead of 3rd party toners at £50/set.

This and the M252dw and also the M281fdw will all note when non-OEM toner is installed, but will allow and that saves a bundle on toner cost. Certainly the OEM toner will be faultless, but in my experience there are many non-OEM toners out there that are perfectly good. That's no guarantee, of course, and there may be lemons on the market, but I haven't experienced any yet. These printers are robust and reliable and just go on and on delivering brilliant copy. One has survived 2 journeys to college and back and lived under a bed, not an ideal environment I'm sure you will agree! Duplex is a must for the sake of the environment and the wallet. Wireless is a boon although there is also a USB connection. The M281fdw also has a multi-feed scanner on top and does a sterling job rattling through single-sided bank statements (from the last century) which can be scanned to a network folder set up in advance. No duplex scanning, well, manual duplex if you can be bothered with that: just a marketing ploy if you ask me. There is also a flatbed scanner. And colour of course. Laser is just so much better than dot matrix. I could never go back.Read full review

Really impressed with this printer, very happy with it so far . It was an upgrade for me, I had my old HP colour laser for 10+ years was still going but image was quite degraded and not worth servicing it. Sale price for this one was £130 with toners so couldn't refuse that offer! I checked toner prices before purchasing and about £60 for a set of 4 is very reasonable. Small-ish overall size considering it takes 4 toner cartridges. Network, WiFi and USB connections. Very very easy set up, my Windows 10 machine found the printer via the wired network and set it up completely automatically, all I did was plug in and I turn on printer. When looked in control panel it was already there and fully functional! The touch screen display on the printer is easy to navigate and after I printed a test page was impressed with the colour test image was crisp and the text sharp. Needless to say I would recommend this printer.Read full review

I had not set up a printer like this before so found it difficult especially the WiFi connection. After that all plain sailing and quality of photos etc very good. Arrived as new.
