These are excellent little cameras, I already had one. Bought this one for the included extras. The camera does everything it should. The camera is larger than more up to date compacts but the 2 big advantages are: 1) a proper viewfinder - no problem trying to see what you're aiming at. 2) takes 4 AA cells so no problem with replacements. These cameras can have faults: 1) the lens jams in/out/half way. 2) the CCD chip fails and no picture can be taken. Both these were fixed free of charge by Canon but I don't know if they would still do this for an old model. There is information on the internet on how to take them apart. With practice it is fairly easy to get down to the CCD. I bought one for spares and repairs so that I could replace something on my first one. Carried on dismantling so now I have a box of bits!. Can't remember the reverse sequence.Read full review
Firstly if your going to buy one make sure it is in perfect working order as its not worth having repaired due to cost, but anybody says this camera isn't any good just does not know how to use it, I owned one of these when it was first released. I have taken some amazing pictures using all the features within the camera, using macro with additional light on the subject you can get crystal clear image from less than a centimeter away and the detail is incredible, as for people saying they cant get steady pictures due to shake use the motion mode (pic of running man on selector) this speeds the shutter up thus enabling to get perfect results even for those with an un-steady hand and does what it was designed for: taking pictures of moving images, and although this is only 3.2 megapixels I have blown up pictures to over a meter in height (yes a meter) and still without seeing the pixels. Really is a lovely piece of kit, Please note using cheap flash cards will reduce the quality of your image and the speed of your camera.....Hope this helps. Lauren.Read full review
This little camera may not have the big 2.5 inch screen, but it is a really powerful little camera.Compared to non view-finder cameras it is as close to a photographers compact as you can get. It has flexibility to manually control your picture exposure and colour balance that other similar cameras don't have. It also uses standard AA batteries which if you use rechargables give you plenty of capacity for picture taking. In an emergency you can get AA batteries anywhere. Other compact cameras use bespoke rechargables which can be inconvenient if you have no suitable power source for recharging! A shame it this camera has been discontinued.
The camera was not in full working order...the sensor needs to be repaired, so although the camera works it gives purple tinged pictures at the moment. I am not going to leave any feedback for this item good or bad ,as I can get it repaired at my own expense..and I cannot say it dosn,t work... but its not really good enough. Regards onebrookview
this is a real little camera to have for "look and shoot" pictures. Not for "serious" photographers but then they would know that anyway! I use it all the time and find battery life good and picture quality what you would expect from a cannon. Would recommend for first time camera users- simple to use and the unit is compact also.
