If you're a retro Nintendo buff like me you will love this. Fond memories of playing this when it came out on the N64 a million years ago are translated into a handheld experience that (whispers) may actually be better than the original... Why? Because it's basically the same game only you get more stars to find, so you get to play it longer. And yes, the controls aren't as responsive (you can only move in 8 directions instead of 360 degrees. But you know what—that only affected about 15 seconds of actual gameplay for me. The rest of the time Mario (and Luigi and Yoshi and Wario: welcome to the 'new' version of this game) feel like they're moving pretty accurately. And the graphics look better than the original because you're seeing them on a smaller screen. In the end, what's not to love? It's Mario 64, one of the finest games ever made.
