If you're familiar with Ark Survival Evolved then you'll know that it's had it's fair share of problems, so it was a surprise to me when Studio Wildcard announced they were releasing the game on the Nintendo Switch. I've clocked around 5 hours on a small server and like the console version it has it's problems with loading times, frame rates and screen tearing. Its no suprise that the graphics have taken a knock in comparison to the Xbox One and PS4. My only upset is how the environment loads into view, for example - you can be walking around gathering resources when all of a sudden something will instantaneously be in focus, be that a bush, tree, rock or dinosaur! Once you've finally found an area away from other player's game breaking bases, the game is just as fun as remembered. 3/5* Brilliant on the go (when it works!)Read full review

Love this game but font go into it thinking it's like every other copy... you will be very disappointed. While there is screen tearing , frame rate drops and a very short drawing distants it's still very playable . And I'm sorry to anyone I've raided online so muc fun finding noob bases and dragging people into the ocean hahahah

I’m a massive ark fan played on both console and pc since 2015, was excited to get it for switch, I obviously lowered my expectations as the switch isn’t overly powerful but I’m impressed with how well it runs ark because let’s be honest ark isn’t that easy to run on anything! Well done wildcard!

Portable ark is something I would love to work well, but unfortunately the visuals just aren't there. There are touch screen controls to make inventory management a breeze in handheld, but other than that few optimizations are made for the handheld device. Graphics are serviceable in docked but anywhere remotely forested is borderline unplayable in handheld due to the low LOD levels. Its ark, its portable, it runs about the same as xbox and ps4, but brace yourself if you intend to play handheld primarily as forests are a mess.

A nice vanilla copy of the Ark we all know so well. Graphics aren't great but for a small handheld device and tiny little cartridge it really is good. Close up object textures look okay but as soon as you step back a few feet they becomes a little blurred. I knew this before buying and have NOT regretted my decision. IF YOU LIKE ARK YOU'LL ALSO LIKE THIS TOO!
