I bought this camera as I had the same model previously but lost it. I have always owned Canon cameras becasue of their ease of use and the array of features. The picture quality cannot be faulted as it has image stability which prevents blurred photographs and I love the colour accent feature which allows me to pick a colour and turn the rest of the photo black and white. A lot of modern cameras have higher resolution than this which is only 7.1 mega pixels but unless you are enlarging the images up to poster size then it doesn't really matter. I don;t think the red-eye technology is as good as more modern cameras either but I sacrificed this because of the price. You can't buy this model new anymore as it has been super-seeded but similar Canon cameras are a lot more expensive to buy.
I had already used this camera but dropped it in water - so purchased a 2nd hand one - Good little camera for basic photos - Lot's of incorporated additions to video etc & does lovely black & white photos - easy to charge and lasts a long time

I decide to buy it based on my previous experience with a Canon SLR and having read various reviews. I love it. It is simple to use and produces great results every time.
Good: Fast operation, main reason for replacing ixus500 owned previously. Logical easy to use user interface, as with all Canons. Good size and fast screen for composing pictures on, and generally bright enough for use outside. Small, lightweight, easy to slip into a pocket. Taken several hundred pics with it, generally satisfied with the results. The little feet designed into the case are a good feature for leaving camera free-standing. Bad: The strap is too long, and doesnt have a clip to shorten it, probably will swap it for one off another camera. Performance at high iso and high shutter speeds is very noisy, but think this is true of all camera of this type. Not sure the IS helps very much, certainly not an obvious improvement. The noise can easily dominate over the pixel count, even in quite reasonable light conditions I have taken some pictures which are noisier and more blury than I would have hoped. Not totally convinced that it is any better than the 5 Mega pixel ixus500 at taking pictures. Ugly: The on-off button is a stupid shape, and fiddly. The buttons on the Ixus 500 are better to use. Overall a good camera, but think twice before buying it as an upgrade.Read full review
