    Great sound and build quality

Really enjoyed listening to these so far. User experience is great, music has a nice kick to it, and audio makes YouTube and films sound better than any other headphones I've owned. Only real negative is when using them for calls. I've heard that the mic quality isn't great, but I wasn't expecting the call quality to be so muddy. I find it difficult to hear my friend when using them. Also, I was expecting them to be best in class when it came to noise cancellation, but after a few train journeys on the London underground, I've found them to be on a par with with my pair of quiet comfort Bose I bought 2 years ago. I do enjoy the sound of them more though and the fact they don't need batteries is nice.

I am not sure if I like them

These headphones are often being compared to BOSE QC35 II. Well, as I have both, I can tell you the difference, as well as strong and weak points. First of all, Sony's are slightly more advanced, it is clear if you look on the dedicated smartphone app. Sound quality is also a little bit better than BOSE's while using bluetooth with noise cancelling. Normally I use headphones while cycling. Having BOSE on my head I had to turn off noise cancelling, as the blows of the wind generated wrong responses by headphone's AI. The result was more noise instead of silence - you normally do not hear the wind blows, but the noise cancelling system DOES and tries to neutralise it making contra-noise. And this is what you hear... The same problem occurs in Sony, but these headphones deal with wind much better. Remember - noise cancelling turned on means the better sound quality. Well, but on the other hand these of Sony have some severe flaws. Having NO PHYSICAL CONTROL BUTTONS is a tragic drawback! In theory, you need to swipe up and down to make the volume up or down, swipe forward to play the next song or swipe backward to play the previous one. Well, in theory... In a real life you swipe and swipe and swipe... until finally it works (or not)! BUT - if you just want to re-position the headphones, or you just touch it inadvertently - you pause, you play next, you play previous - just by the choice of its crazy AI... And one more thing. In wired mode, the sound quality of Sony is WORSE than in BOSE. Forget the Alexa or Google Assistant. In both cases are the waste of time and technology. It is not an improvement at all (try to ask Google Assistant to skip a song, raise the volume level, or pause - then you need to repeat it 10x, then you do it manually). The design of Sony is acceptable, but BOSE is beautiful!

  • Amazing sound with great noise cancelling.

I purchased these headphones as I'm a fan of Sony products and they've always been pretty good. It was a toss up between these and the Bose of similar price, as I've got a Sony MP3 player I went for these. Upon opening the box you can tell you've just got a premium product, nice packaging and case with everything you need. They're very easy to set up by holding down the power button for 7 seconds, pair it up with your android device and download the Sony headphone app and you get a host of features to fine tune the sound to your taste. Great feel and very comfortable, I would highly recommend these headphone to anyone wanting to upgrade to a good set and the noise cancelling is very good.

  • Would still recommend

I'm not a fanatic when it comes to branding nor am i an expert when it comes to the audio quality but sound is pretty decent in these if you asked me. There's only 2 dedicated buttons - one's for power and the other button is for noice cancelling. Audio controls like start/stop, prev. Next song is done through sliding your fingers on the top of the right earphone. I thought I preferred having dedicated buttons for controls too but now that I got used to sliding I don't mind. Can be tricky with the sliding sometimes though and you need to do it few times. Again I might have not hit the correct spot. Don't work with Win7. Do work with Win10. Attached is jack mic-audio splitter/adapter and a jack cable (could be longer). Can use them via that cable, not only via bluetooth, but only listening to stuff, mic doesn't work this way. Oh, there's also a 10cm long usb-c (charging) cable. Hope it helps

  • Awesome headphones, easily the best for under 500 pounds!

I have these headphones as the finishing piece to my 4K tv. When I have them on, I am immersed in whatever I am watching, and unlike speakers, you hear everything that the movie or programme has to offer. I love the way the controls for volume or skip or pause use a swipe motion, while mute is achieved by cupping the earpiece. Charging is simple, it uses the same connection as a galaxy 8 up and charges quickly. It also tells you how much battery you have left, which I think is a great feature. The carry case is robust and well designed, so you can take them anywhere and enjoy whatever you are listening to in absolute peace and quiet thanks to the noise cancelling feature.

  • Brilliant

Obviously I read up on these headphones before buying, but hadn't tried them before and my expectations were definitely succeeded. Amazing sound stage, great bass, lightweight, bluetooth pairs really easily, the ANC is superb (although a little disorientating to start with), being totally over ear they are very comfy for wearing long periods and battery life is amazing too. They came in a really nice, tough case too which should help keep them from getting beaten up when not in use. The touch control panel on the side of the ear can be a little hit and miss, but really only a minor gripe on what is a great set of headphones for the money.

  • Dark magic, I say. (not actually please dont hurt me Smaug's brother it wasn't me I swear cus this is IS NOT BILBO)

I can confidently state my suspicions that these beautiful ear sound inducers were forged in Mount Doom to be the one pair of ear muffs to rule them all. Forged by Saurony himself to enable the User to travel to an alternate dimension of quiet, and delete all other inhabitants of Middle Earth from existence once the Wearer switches them on. With a little tuning, they will sound punchy and crystal clear - greater than any competitors and will quickly send all enemies tumbling to the underworld within moments. The Wearer will be infused with confidence over all others as they stride about, superior to the clans of Bose and Sennheiser and all the other pathetic underlings. Furthermore, though the top of the headband could be improved with a little more padding, the comfort level of these are superior to even the Plantronics Backbeat Pro, which are drowned in foam, as they cause no pain to the outside of the ears due to them sitting entirely over the ears and therefore not putting any stress on the cartilage. However, after long periods of use, the muffs can cause a small layer of sweat to build up where the cups meet the head. It would be nice if there was an clicking activator (button) dedicated to the Google Assistant Of Google or the Alexa Of Amazon rather than having to remap the the clicking activator for the toggling of the Environmental Removal Tool - also known as Noise Cancelling. The app is as great as the Grey... Wait, no - White Wizard they call something beginning with G, and though it is on the tip of my tongue I cannot remember quite what his name was. Anyway, the battery life is excellent and so is the scabbard they call the carry case, which is well made and has an impressively satisfying zip. However the cable included for charging and the aux cable seem a little cheap. The design of the muffs is impressive and stylish and overall these are basically perfect, thanks Sony. Bit on the pricey side though.

  • Best headphones

Best noise cancelling headphones on the market. The sound quality is amazing (with EQ in the Sony app). Great comfort, lightweight. Although my ears get very warm while using these headphones. There are many useful features, like ambient sound (with 'focus on voice' only letting in voice sounds from outside). Touch panel takes some time getting used to, but after that, it's really convenient.

  • Exceeded expectation!!

Like most buyers I read every review about these headphones and other leading brands in the same price bracket. I live near a busy road and sometimes I just want peace, especially in the summer when windows need to be open. So I decided to buy good quality headphones that could push the background noise back into the background, where it belongs! I have not been disappointed, I am so pleased that I chose to invest in these. They are easy to operate. I didn’t need to study the manual to learn how to use them. (Intuitive I think is the word.) The sound quality is mind blowing. I am transported to the centre of the orchestra or band, that I am listening to, with different instruments playing around me! The noise cancelling works brilliantly. All in all I am delighted with these headphones, I am glad that I ‘took the plunge’ and chose these ones over their competitors. They are worth every penny and I would certainly buy these again.

  • Allround great

After researching and testing loads of headphones I decided to get these older xm3s over the newer xm4s. Same sound quality, very similar noise cancelling and lots of great features. Great for all types of scenarios ( except workouts as they don’t clamp down hard on your head but this makes them more comfortable for general use) would recommend
