  • High end enough for Me!!.

Firstly, it came well packaged and the seller was very helpful. I had until recently, a reasonably powerful PC to run My Music Software and some mid level gaming. After my motherboard shorted out, leaving my PC powerless I went in search of replacent parts. Although dated, I decided to try and find an exact replacement of the processor I had. I got lucky, as the original which must have died along with the motherboard was also an 8 core processor but was 3.10ghz speed as opposed to the replacement which is 4ghz. I am not a tech head but was told it would make a marginal improvement in the processing speed, and I think it has!!. This processor would be more than sufficient for general PC use and most music creation software. It is fine to a degree for gaming too, but if you are looking to set up a PC for High Res gaming, you would probably need something more powerful.

  • Excellent 'bang for buck'.

The processor comes with an adequate heat-sink if you are not planning to overclock it. It is also entirely possible to get lower operating temperatures by using a thermal compound that is of high quality. It has 8 cores. Multitasking with this processor will be easy, given your RAM isn't bottlenecking your system. Remember to check hardware status via your operating system's appropriate software. The value for money is not going to be found elsewhere. Definitely the best budget, high-performance CPU on the market right now.

  • Make sure pins are not bent!

Bought as used. This processor still keeps its price despite its age, originally produced 2011. I tried 3 times to get it recognised in the AM3+ of my motherboard. I had a 4 core processor and before installing this I updated to the latest BIOS version as earlier BIOS versions may not support 8 core processors. The processor arrived with some bent pins but although these were carefully straightened it's possible that my motherboard socket did not mate correctly or had tarnished contacts and at a 3rd attempt it was correctly recognised and immediately my BIOS informed me that the processor was changed so I set default settings initially. All is well. Ran for in excess of 5 hours primarily for audio editing and I monitored the temperature as not being higher than 53deg Celsius.

  • Great CPU for an AM3+ socket motherboard.

I bought this in order to upgrade my PC without changing the motherboard (I'd already put in the max RAM and an SSD). It was relatively easy to install - well the CPU was very easy, the cooler was little trickier but not at all difficult. It has certainly improved the performance and the after market cooler is a great improvement over the one that comes as 'standard'. So, if you have an AM3+ socket on your motherboard I would thoroughly recommend this processor. Overall, very happy with the processor and the cooler just wish I had used the FX-8350 earlier ;-)

  • FX3850 Heart of the Gamer Machine

Great Processor and Power for the price, combined with a AMD Radeon r9 390 Graphics Card, and 32 gigabyte DDR3 Memory with a 256 Gigabyte SSD, makes a Fantastic heart of a game machine, with processing power to spare. Would recommend for the Heart of any Machine, if building a computer on a midrange budget, Favoured over a intel I5 Cpu for the Power and the number of Cores. Price to power Ratio - is a Winner.

  • Reliable speed.

This processor was installed as an upgrade and has proved very reliable, all round I am pleased with the AMD FX series Processors which I have been using ever since they were launched on the market, for the price they get the job done.

  • Love it!

Apparently according to reviews, this is the best "bang per buck" of the AM3+ FX processors. It's doubled my speed, and because it uses less power, my fans are quieter too! Love it!

  • Bit of a heart pound moment

Well when it arrived the package was not damaged in any way so I opened the box is was in a anti-static bag which was good but upon taking it out the bag it had a few pins bent so I had to get out my special tool and straighten them up which took me about 10 mins then I put it in my machine to test it it works really good and I got it for half the price but it does get hot running at 4mhz so it does need a water cooler.

  • Useful upgrade from Phenom965

A noticeable performance increase from a four core 3.4GHz Phenom 965. Watching ksysguard is even cooler now.
