One of the best books there is on graphic design. It has been on my wish list for a couple of years now. I was patiently waiting for a cheap second hand buy, but it never happened (now I understand why). Recently I asked a great graphic designer what books she recommends and she said this was the one. I thought “Enough waiting”, and bought it straight away. I devoured it as soon as it arrived. It is indeed a mighty book on graphic design - it’s one of those that we go back to again and again, looking for ideas, inspiration, light. I particularly like how open Michael Bierut is in detailing how some ideas were generated, the challenges faced, and his honesty on some of his “crap” ideas. I should have gotten this book ages ago, rather than waiting for a cheap deal. The book has gone straight to my top 5 graphic design books I’ve read so far (together with Sagmeister, Tibor, Saul Bass and Steven Heller).Read full review
