Currently to be found at a snip here on eBay and elsewhere, the 1st Gen Chromecast is easy to set up - in the main; you may, however, encounter some difficulties unless you have the MAC address to hand. I've set one up on four different systems; the last was, however, a beast to get to work! I think that's probably only because of the wifi provided where I am... I have, though, also found problems with Wuaki casting once set up - particularly from a MacBook Pro: the screen sticks on "Ready To Cast" and refuses to budge; Wuaki say they are unable to reproduce the problem. Casting from an iPhone, from an iPad Mini and from Chrome all seem to work seamlessly and there Chromecast performs without a hitch. I'm not sure what the 2nd Gen unit does that this one doesn't, but - if cost is an issue - I would recommend looking for a refurbished one of these (£10-12).
