I completely agree with all of the positive reviews on here and would like to also highly recommend this game as it is amazing. If you imagine a point-and-click murder mystery in the style of the classic Broken Sword or the more recent Phoenix Wright games and mix it with the puzzle elements of the best selling Brain Training games, then you will have some idea what to expect here. Don't expect an easy game here though as even the puzzles early on take a lot of thinking about and will have you clicking on the Hints button! Most puzzles are solved by using just common sense and the answer will suddenly click and you'll be kicking yourself for not seeing it before. As well as some truly brain-teasing puzzles, there are also some of the best videos - with full spoken audio - that I have seen on the DS and it all adds to the story and will make you want to keep playing to solve the mystery. Overall this is without a doubt one of the best games on the DS and is one that everyone will enjoy regardless of your age or gender. Just be prepared to get addicted to it!Read full review
I actually bought this particular Professor Layton game (there are 3 in total so far) because everyone told me it was amazing. Which I'm sure it is, but you need to be aware that from what I have discovered, and heard/read from other people, that the first one is the most difficult. I let this put me off and gave up because it is a very frustrating game. You need time, and this game requires your full attention - of which it did not have for me. I understand and appreciate that others won't have a neutral review like mine, but buyers of this game should be aware that is isn't so much 'fun', as being challenging and enjoyable in the fact that you're using your brain! :)
Except for the red bear in the centre of Evermeet, this was the best piece of computer software I have ever bought. Thanks for letting me see the creativity, imagination and inventiveness of the professionals who have brought the world of the Forgotten Realms to life from the work of the original creators and the fans who lived there. Cheers, Gareth Jax

I am of the 'older generation' and I like to see what is happening in the youngsters' world, so thought this game would be fun. And so it has proved. I loved playing this, all the animation and the puzzles were great fun. Yes I would buy it again if had my time. I have now bought Pandora's Box, the next in the series and will be looking out for the next one The Lost Future. Great time waster though!!!! I am keeping Pandora for my holiday flight on which I now know I will not be bored. Well done E-Bay.
I bought this game because I like my brain to be put to work. It certainly does that, in buckets. It has an engaging game play with puzzles to keep you occupied for hours. The different puzzles fit together to make a tidy little package in order to solve the mystery. I don't dislike this product at all. Once I got started it was very hard to put down. If you like a challenge, then you'll like Professor Layton and the Curious Village. If you buy it I don't think you will be disappointed.
