  • Great but with a couple of flaws

Great but the power supply supplied was a 2 amp supply but it's meant to be used with a 1 amp supply so I used a PSU from a bt hub 4. The power socket was a bit wobbly and loose but doesn't make a difference because it doesn't move around. The speed is a bit slow compared to my ethernet but that is to be expected.

  • With some effort, this runs OpenWRT well

If you're searching for a solution to ADSL latency spiking when uploads take place, you want to be running OpenWRT with Smart Queue Management. This is one of the few ADSL modem routers supported by OpenWRT. Flashing new firmware is not for the faint hearted; it does require intervention with a soldering iron. Once running OpenWRT, I've found this to work really well and improve my broadband significantly, eliminating stupid latency spikes up to 3000ms Four stars because it could be more straightforward to load an alternative firmware if BT wanted it to be.

  • Quality item

You don't have to be bt customer to use old bt product I do recommend you get a number from your provider and don't use old bt number as bt can block your broad band mine on 24/7 with talk talk

  • Grat value backup

With my BT broadband playing up I enquired about a replacement router - they said £84 ! Turns out that wasn't the problem but this used router was of such good quality I was able to check for faults on the other by comparison. I keep it still as back up having saved a wad of money.

  • BT home hub 3.0 type B

The home hub 3.0 type B is by far the best hub produced for b.t. The hub 4 is a dual frequency device and is prone to drop-out,which is extremely annoying, that's why I've reverted back to the hub 3.

  • Superseded by later revisions

If you need an ADSL modem/router/access point this will do the job well and reliably

  • BT Hub 3 Type A or B?

My original type A router got damaged by lightening. I noticed two types A and B for sale on eBay but did not know the difference. After some internet searching I was told the type B was a later model and mobile contact was better. So I bought a used type B and the mobile connection is much better.
