Overall not a bad machine - relatively fast, comfortable keyboard. The keyboard actually fails quite often. It is engineered like this - to break easily. So that you will either buy the expensive module which is like 1/3 of the notebook value or you either buy the mac keyboard - you decide. Very good marketing trick as you have no other choice but to spend even more money on it. Me and another 4 friends are having this particular model of macbook pro. For 3 of us the keyboard failed. I don't believe it is coincidence especially when we are talking about multi billion business. The second thing is that once I enter a video correspondence the fan starts rotating like crazy and my battery dies in two hours. I can not believe I can spend 2 or 3 thousand on such a product and be left with such a cheap experience. I think that if you are a real professional and want to use this computer for work - 10-12 hours with video cals, VPN connections etc than you should spend like 5-6k to get the top spec and then maybe your fan will not go crazy, your battery will not die in 1.5-2 hours and probably you will end up with a bit better experience. Unless the keyboard gives you up. Thats why you'll need a additional keyboard as well. Think before you spend your money.Read full review

I think it is an amazing design, Superb Quality Computer!!! I have had a ipad from when they first came out, Infact I have had two in succesion1 I have a iphone also. I have wanted a laptop for a long time! I thought about it for a long time, HP Laptops were considered, but I always came back to Apple, The cost of my new 16" Mac Book Pro was expensive, I think its worth every penny for a superb product in my opinion the laptop I bought is the best on the market that money can buy> The only thing I am not keen on is the folders ie they are default blue and not so nice as microsoft, which I miss I hope apple can do something about their folders in the future!!!

There is a hardware issue Apple won't admit namely the Radeon 5500M (the standard option and possibly 5300M as well as they both use the same memory) graphics card causes the device to overheat badly by drawing about 20 Watt of power instead of 5 Watt (needed for light stuff such as internet browsing, mail or video conferencing) as soon as you connect one or more external monitors! There is a forum page with over 200 pages now where people are complaining about it. Another thing is for such a high price and "Pro" in the title one expects a thoroughly tested quality product that works up to a certain standard where work can be carried out without unncessary interuptions. This is not the case with this machine. I'd only get one with the +£700 Radeon 5600M graphics card as they seem to be working better and quietly instead of spinning up fans from about 2000 to 5000+! Pros cannot work like this in particular when doing video conferencing - other people ask or complain about the noise at the other end not to mention device’s users after spending 8h in front of it. Many people doing pro stuff have already returned this model - do it too within 14 days from purchase to let Apple know we don't pay premium for rubbish and untested devices. Apple support have been ignoring us or saying this is how it’s designed but it’s simply unusable for some users.Read full review
