This is a Best-seller "expert" compact camera from Canon. Even after several years that it has been stopped from production this model offers all an advanced photographer may want from a compact camera. Especially manual mode where F-stop and shutter speed can be manually selected. Also, the CANON underwater housing (offered as an option) makes this model quite researched from SCUBA enthusiasts.

I bought the Cannon G11 Powershot because my previous G11 Powershot had developed a fault with the LED. It was ten year's old and I sent it away to be repaired. However,I was told that the faulty part was no longer available. It's a good little camera and meets all my requirements. I just hope that the LED on this one does not develop the same LED fault!

I bought this camera because there are times when i do not want to carry my DSLR. The camera is very easy to use the picture quality is very good for a compact camera and you do not have to go into menus to change the settings. The camera has the look and feel of a retro film camera. The camera is built to a high standard, my only complaint is with the viewfinder. It could be improved otherwise, I am pleased with this camera. I was using a powershot A610 before i bought the G11

A great camera overall. I find two major defects. The optical viewfinder is too small. Also, if you don't use the LCD finder you cannot control anything, even the flash on/off. It's not really a usable viewfinder, just an emergency device. The second defect is the automatic white balance. It tends to make the skin too pink under tungsten lights.
