Linx 7 don't upgrade to Windows 10
Just bought a Linx 7, it works brilliantly and runs Windows really well. I like Win 10 for screen rotation lock and flight mode. So ran the Windows 10 upgrade and it's killed it! Just read loads of forums and it happens a lot, I've not managed to restore the factory settings so after only 1 days ownership it's in the bin. Poor build quality
I bought a refurbished unit. To begin with there were intermittent problems with the connection to the display but they settled down and in the first few weeks it seemed to be reliable. However the problems resurfaced and after a few months I lost the screen so the unit is now worthless. End result good , getting there problematic
OK so I bought this refurbished item cheaply from the "daily deals" primarily to check whether it would accept and run Windows 10 successfully before risking updating two other Linx tablets laden with personal settings. Previous refurbished items have always worked well. However, problems were immediately apparent, the packaging said MS Office not included but the banner in Ebay had said Office 365 ( though previous experience with Linx would mean it would need to be activated). The Windows 8.1 installation was lacking many updates , about 240 , including those which Windows 10 checks for the presence of before downloading. A registry check also highlighted 63 items which needed fixing. Faced with a low battery during the correction of these issues, the biggest issue became apparent. If you use the tablet while charging the tablet around the charger gets super hot. This does not happen with any of the other Linx tablets leading me to believe that this was why this particular tablet was returned for refurbishment. So the issues were resolved , the registry was corrected, the updates were run and the unit identified as needing to be charged during downtime. I was left with the opinion that the refurbishment was rushed or bodged which detracted from the purchase however much I saved versus purchasing a new one. Otherwise the experiment was a success, Windows 10 successfully loaded and despite Microsofts indications of a higher minimum spec requirement than the Linx possesses it runs just as well as Windows 8.1. Open Office, a free download from Apache, has been substituted for Microsoft Office . My overall opinion about Linx products is unchanged, they are excellent value for money, do what they say and are fairly robust.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Great value for money, great memory. Upgraded from Win 8.1 to 10 no problems. Battery life Ok but not long, takes a while to charge if low. Struggles to charge quick enough when watching films and using in car usb charger, make shore you have high output USB for running from car socket. Got it for running DOS games through DOSBOX and works great, even Win 3.1 & Win95 work through DOSBOX. If you turn off all the Windows10 junk like fancy graphics and backgrounds, sliding menus etc, then its pretty quick. Good in parts

Okay for the price
Ive used it for a while and it has given me a few issues. Especially the range in which it connect to the wifi! Screen scratches very easily and sd cards get corrupted easily for some reason, ive tried many. Sometimes doesnt even update properly when needs an update.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
