I've used a number of different cameras over the years, DSLR, view finder (including Leica), enthusiast point and shoot and film; the Canon 40D is one of my favourite. I've owned my Canon 40D for several years and am parting ways with it due to a need for a more compact camera - otherwise I think I would have happily held onto it for 20 years...and I expect it would have continued to preform well. Image quality is (in my opinion) excellent and better than my brand new Panasonic camera. Colour rendition is beautiful and accurate. Build quality is incredible, feels very solid and robust. Operational speed is great, turning on and ready to shoot photos very quickly. AF is also fast and accurate. Big fan. The 40D was a pro camera when first released and even in 2016 is a great semi-pro camera/enthusiast camera or back-up camera - especially at such a low price point in today's secondhand market.Read full review

I bought this product as I love photography and always seem to take thousands of pictures when I go on holiday. I was tired of using a camera which didn't do everything I wanted, so I looked into SLRS. With help from a few people I know who currently have SLRS, I chose Canon. I also needed one which had a quick shutter speed, the EOS40D seemed to have the most fps. I wanted a camera for my holiday to Singapore for the F1 (hence quick shutter speed) I had a few practices at the Olympics and Paralympics before I went but made sure I carried my manual with me which came in very useful. You would need to buy a bigger lense if you want to zoom in more (I borrowed a friends for the F1) but for holiday snaps which are much more impressive than everyone you know - this is the perfect camera and I took some beautiful shots!Read full review
