A bit dated, but still a good camera- image stabilisation is a big plus, so far it’s been up to the task

A great little camera for not a lot of money. Quite tiny and can vanish into a pocket with no trouble. It may not have the Leica lens but the images seem fine. Crisp and clear with good color. The 6x zoom gives that little bit extra and really comes in handy. So many cameras seem to stall at 3x unless you want to pay a fortune. It doesn't have the later Wide Angle view but unless you're into playing with perspective which the wider Leica lens stops you doing anyway, a 35mm view is quite acceptable. I bought this for my daughter and she thinks it's outstanding. As an ex-professional photographer, the only beef I have is the absence of a viewfinder as well as the LCD screen but I'm not going to be using it so I've been told to keep my nose out! I really fail to see why anyone needs more than 5 megapixels (which this camera delivers nicely)for snaps or even more serious work. There is altogether too much marketing twaddle bandied about by camera companies. We have an old Olympus C220 for general family use which only puts out 2 megapixels and that is easily enough for a 19 inch monitor screen. I can honestly recommend this little camera for anyone who wants a small pocket camera with a decent CCD,lens and features including the now obligatory image stabilization. ChrisRead full review
I am a motor cyclist, and need a camera that can be hidden virtually anywhere, not much room on a cruiser type motor bike. The DMC-LZ3 performs this function very well, it is quite small and is quite adjustable in ASA, shutter speed etc. The only negative response at the moment is that when the batteries get it becomes very slow to save and the refresh is considerably slower, other than that it was well the money. I would recommend it. Alan A Warner
What I like about the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ3 camera is the zoom lens; it has a 6x optical zoom and a 4x digital zoom, altogether having a 24x zoom lens. I had plenty of fun zooming on my objects whilst I was in Spain this year, which is the reason I bought this camera. It was an amazing price for what the camera is capable of doing and supplied with a 2GB memory card you can take plenty of photos. It was priced around £200 a year or two ago. There are plenty of other features and functions I like, like the different settings for various occasions on the scn1 and scn2 modes, the fact it can connect to a TV to view still and moving pictures. The LCD screen is a nice size too being 2". Big fun. Good quality pictures. Make sure you take enough batteries My only disappointment is that there is no microphone for sound.Read full review
