The base was made in the latter part of the 19th century and originally would have had an oblong topif you take a close look at the edge, you will see that it is slight difference in colour to the surface, again an indication of a later alterationad id: delivery service consumer creditthe table is of georgian design but later in date of manufactureantique extending dining table (gated legs) in spanish mahoganyit is more likely that it was from an older table and married to the base on which it now standsthe top may be the original and shaped oval to be more in keeping with the style of the time
