The mouthpiece is in like new conditionsthe mouthpiece here for sale is made in ultem, polyetherimide (pei)the gen ii mouthpiece are no longer made by erik falconfor sale an ingenious 10mfan “the classic” #7* gen ii tenor saxophone mouthpiece, made in ultemthis mouthpiece was design to offer a more otto link-ish vibe compared to its brother, the “merlot”this is a high strength polymer it has been used for mouthpiece since at least 25 yearsthe feeling is to have a mouthpiece slightly more reactive and faster… slightly less boomy and/or shrill at high dynamics but the thing you’ll notice is the sustain, it’s a perceptively longer sustain*link removed* “the classic“ has been introduced on the market at the end of november and this one for sale is a “generation ii” made by brian powell e erik greiffenhagen (the mouthpiece guys)pictures: *link removed* price: eur 290/gbp 254 including tracked shipping (ups or dhl within europe)the chamber is somewhat larger and the side walls are more undercutted… the baffle is shorter and lower but overall the floor slope is higher and goes into the chamberthe mouthpieceguys took over the production, so the facing work is more “traditional” compared to the gen i mouthpieces, slightly thicker tip and rails and no ultra long facing curvescompared to the “merlot”… “the classic” sounds somewhat less fat and beefy, but provides more mid-range complexity, you may say it has the “link nasality” still a medium-dark mouthpiece, with an amazing dynamic rangethe beak is somewhat lower, to match the shape of the vintage linksit’s around 20% heavier/denser than the regular hard rubber, and much easier to be machinedit’s a particularly appealing for otto link “slant signature” loversit has almost no effect on the sound, compared to the hr version… except for a gentle compressionbuyer pays the fees if anythere are more design elements of a genuine vintage links
