Here i have my gigantic, fiery red brahma boyweights of about 8 kg (18 lb) for cocks and 6 kg (13 lb) for hensthey are stately birds with an upright carriage and a large heada bit about the brahma an american breed of chicken with heavily feathered legs, distinctive head shape and pea combhe is just over a year old and an absolute sweetheart, or as we like to say a gentle gianthe does weigh quite a lot as he is part of the large foul group so must not let young children try and pick him up as he might get a bit upset being held for to longhowever i have him free rangethough has never been aggressive with usthey are very beautiful, large and hardy birdsbrahma chickens are elegant birds with beautiful featheringhe is not an old boy so does get a bit apprehensive with the girls at time but i separate them some times cause the girls do loose some feathers over a long period of time, however this is normal for cockerelshe is my favourite chicken that i own but we have had so many new arrivals of spring chicks that there just isn't enough space for him, because of his size he will need a big place to run and a big coop to fit into, he doesnt mind to bundle up with his flock in a coop as long as he inst crampedhe would be a great edition to a flock of girls, would never like to live alone, he is a great protector of his hens, normally because of his size many foxes and predators don't try go for him or his flockhe has an incredibly kind temperament, however he was a bit shy at first, timid and can be scared in new surroundings but quick to warm up to us with just a bit of corn and and treats to put him in place and follows us around everywhere just for a cuddlethey prefer dry conditions because of their foot featheringplease keep in mind if he ever seems a bit angry, it is not because he is an angry bird, he is the most gentle, but when he is scared fear is normally portrayed in anger
