Antique victorian/edwardian purdonium (coal box), mahogany, approxthe âfloorâ has reinforcing blocks underneath, for extra strength (see last photo)this is why i have put â(a/f)â (or as found) in the titleapart from that, it appears to be in good, original conditionoriginal ornate brass handles and plates, one each side, one on the frontit is quite heavy â kg51x35x34 cm (a/f) here is a general description, but please refer to the photographsiâm pretty certain itâs mahogany, but iâm not knowledgeable about woods(if these cannot be properly restored, one option would be to remove the gallery completely, and maybe put a glass top on the boxjust about square, with a tilting-out front door, and a metal liner inside â the metal liner has handles to lift it out for cleaning / re-loadingcondition it has (or had) a pillared gallery around 3 sides of the top â unfortunately, 1 side and the back (still joined) have come off, and several of the baluster-shaped pillars are missing (see 2nd photo)
