pretty edwardian settle / settee – in need of tlcmain parts of the upholstery look pretty, but there are quite a few faults (ethe two front legs are slightly curved, while the back legs are more-or-less straight downhigh-backed 2-seater settle, or setteethe back is divided in two, with a pierced wood insert between the two – with an inlaid pattern of a flower and foliage – quite an art nouveau impression (see 2nd photo)the webbing underneath will need refurbishing - underneath sags (see 6th photo), and the seat is very uneven with variable spring heights (see the main photo)here is a general description - please see photos for detailssorry, don’t know the wood – dark, looking like mahogany, with double light wood (satinwood?) stringing down the arms, and round parts of the frame (see main photo, and detail in the 3rd photo)all are fitted with brass mounted, brown ceramic casters (see 4th photo)approximate dimensions: - height: cm); - width: cm); - depth: cm)there are the remnants of braid from round all the fabric edgesin spite of the refurbishment needed, it is a very pretty, original settle, with a strong frame

I’m pretty certain it’s mahogany, but i’m not knowledgeable about woodscondition it has (or had) a pillared gallery around 3 sides of the top – unfortunately, 1 side and the back (still joined) have come off, and several of the baluster-shaped pillars are missing (see 2nd photo)just about square, with a tilting-out front door, and a metal liner inside – the metal liner has handles to lift it out for cleaning / re-loading(if these cannot be properly restored, one option would be to remove the gallery completely, and maybe put a glass top on the boxapart from that, it appears to be in good, original conditionantique victorian/edwardian purdonium (coal box), mahogany, approx51x35x34 cm (a/f) here is a general description, but please refer to the photographsthe ‘floor’ has reinforcing blocks underneath, for extra strength (see last photo)it is quite heavy – kgthis is why i have put “(a/f)” (or as found) in the titleoriginal ornate brass handles and plates, one each side, one on the front
