A rare style of antique postal scalesthe weights in some of the images are just there to help to demonstrate that it balances)there are expected impact marks, where the bottom of the counter weight has impacted the wooden basei haven't noticed a maker stamp or nameplease feel free to make an offeron the flat brass plate it states; the graduated arm goes from 0 tothe underside of the base amazingly still has its original paper liningcan post at extra costthe flat brass plate also has two brass tabs, to prevent letters from migrating towards the graduated armthe centre pivot is just over 4 1/4" highi'm sure they could be further improved by someone who knows what they're doing, but i've just left them in "as found" conditionthere's a large piece of lead screwed to the underside of the brass plate, i'm guessing to calibrate itplease study the images, as they also form part of the description & please do your own researchthe base is approx just under " at its longest part & 5" at its widest partthese are fresh to the market & rarely come up for sale, as they're getting very hard to findi think they originally would have been silver or silver plated, as the counter weight still has some silvering on itpostage includes being signed forin expected used condition for a balance of this age & nature(the scales don't come with any weightsi have tried some of my own weights & suprisingly they're still fairly accuratethere are a few scratches, both on the brass, the counter weight & on the wooden lacquered basethey would polish up nicely toothe wooden base looks like it's split to the rare edge & has been historically glued
