Was offered £ from a dealer at an antique fair we went to about 9 years agoi don't know what era they come from but i wood think (do u get it wood) i would think probably 40s or 50s because i've had them many years from my travels in my youth, maybe even earlier for the tourist tradethe only reason i'm selling part of my collection is that i have 5 grandchildren and funds need replenishing or i would never part with these far too important to me for many, many, yearsif you want an extremely original talking point, then get this unusual coaster set out for your guestswe will truly miss them, that's why we only want reasonable offer,sthen you have the six coaster's that are very heavy sturdy ones and you can see underneath how it has been originally sawn, but god knows how long a tribesman would have taken to cut all these, probably from the same brancheach coaster has a carved animal: ie elephant, rhino, wildebeest i think tiger etcthis container and coaster's are carved tribal art at its best, the container alone must have taken best part of a year to carve in what i think they call or could be classed as african iron wood one of the hardest woods in the world maybe thee hardest wood in the world that's why this highly intricate container is so tactile(should have taken it) read more

The top has four panels one of which has a deep groove that appears by the depth of the patina to have been done many many years ago, and adds to it's charmin good antique condition with aged patina and with a couple of minor professional repairs which were done over a hundred years agomeasurements 140cm long x 55cm wide x 63cm high read morethis is a beautiful panelled 17th century carved dark oak chest/cofferit has the original hinges and 3 locks on the front with iron handles on the carved sidesthe three panels at the front have carved lozenges with roses and rondells across the frontthere is no wood worm or rot

It's not fair on either of us at the minute, he's wasted with me and he has so many good years to be used rather than just being left in the fieldhe has a strong character and makes me laugh often, i had a bad accident years ago and it knocked my confidenceit's with a deep sadness that i have to sell my baby boyi would keep him buy mh sister has her own horse and he's worth far more than being a field ornament as he loves to workhe is good to be boxed, trimmed, groomed and is brilliant around my little boyit's with a heavy heart that i have to do this ??i finally need to admit that he's just too strong for mei want a 5 * home for him as i couldn't think of him being passed aroundmy sister rides him often he is snaffle mouthed, very forward going and loves to workit wasn't on my boy but i've realised it's a plodder i need and he's far too forward going for mehe goes out on his own or with or horses when hackinghe needs a strong confident rider, this unfortunately is not me anymore
