The centre pivot is just over 4 1/4" highthe weights in some of the images are just there to help to demonstrate that it balances)the base is approx just under " at its longest part & 5" at its widest parti'm sure they could be further improved by someone who knows what they're doing, but i've just left them in "as found" conditionthese are fresh to the market & rarely come up for sale, as they're getting very hard to finda rare style of antique postal scalesi haven't noticed a maker stamp or namepostage includes being signed foron the flat brass plate it states; the graduated arm goes from 0 tothere are a few scratches, both on the brass, the counter weight & on the wooden lacquered basein expected used condition for a balance of this age & natureplease feel free to make an offerthey would polish up nicely toothe underside of the base amazingly still has its original paper lining(the scales don't come with any weightscan post at extra costplease study the images, as they also form part of the description & please do your own researchthere are expected impact marks, where the bottom of the counter weight has impacted the wooden basethe flat brass plate also has two brass tabs, to prevent letters from migrating towards the graduated armthere's a large piece of lead screwed to the underside of the brass plate, i'm guessing to calibrate iti have tried some of my own weights & suprisingly they're still fairly accuratethe wooden base looks like it's split to the rare edge & has been historically gluedi think they originally would have been silver or silver plated, as the counter weight still has some silvering on it
