I purchased 6 ixworth fertile eggs from a good dealer earlier this yearit is named after the village of ixworth in suffolk, where it was created ini have just copied a bit, just slightly amended:- "the ixworth is an english breed of white domestic chickenonly two are shown in the photo but all five are the samenot heard any crowing yetit now transpires i have five cockerelsthey make sounds slightly like a duckmother nature has a laugh - doesn't she?? you can find a lot about these rare breed chickens on the internetit was bred as a fast-growing high-quality meat breed with reasonable laying abilities" they certainly grow fasti fancied keeping an older rare breeda couple of cockerels i thought & a couple of laying hensi am impressed by how tame they arewhen i pick one up to check him over - he chats away telling me all about his day
