The amp is valve rectified via a gz34 tubethis means that in practice it is really a two-channel ampthe amp is essentially a dumble style preamp, so has one channel but with a second gain stagethis is a handmade, handwired, boutique amp and cab made by rob dix of rda and was custom built for me about four years agoi hate to see it go, but it has barely been used during the pandemic and i am now using a jtm45 as my main ampthis is a very loud 28 watts mind, and for gigs i have run it through an attenuator to allow the 6v6s to work their magic – this is definitely not a bedroom amp; although excellent clean and distorted tones can be achieved at lower volume (but without the chewy 6v6 power amp breakup)also features a very subtle tube reverb & crystal-clear valve buffered fx loopon the front panel, the gain 1 knob has a ‘pull-bright’ option, the bass control has a ‘pull fat’ option and the middle control ‘pull boost’ (if the footswitch is not being used)a two-button footswitch (stereo cable required) activates the ‘dual’ and ‘boost’ functionsideally, it will go to someone who will take it out and gig it on a regular basis! read moreif you go to the rda site you can find lots of great info about the dualist spec & designon the back panel is a knob that allows the degree of overdrive in the second gain stage to be setthe output tubes are four 6v6, providing about 28 watts in cathode biasthe speakers are a 10” celestion alnico gold, paired with a 12” celestion alnico creambackthe workmanship is outstanding, and it is in excellent conditionthe output stage is class-a, cathode biased ‘tweed’ stylein the preamp there are five 12ax7/ecc83 tubesthis combination provides a very broad dynamic range, with a tight bottom end and sweet clear highsthis is capable of producing a significant amount of preamp gain
