Personally i don't think this affects the use of the boot in any wayincludes spare partsi used these without gaiterssize mm wide and mm longonly selling because i have arthritis in my hands so it is hard to get them onboth have significant wear to the toe and one actually has a holethere is one gaiter with spare velcro fasteners but it is somewhat damagedthese are fabulous in muddy conditions as they have super grip due to the sports solethey need to be a tight fit though so they can be a bit tough to put on and take off
