All of our young hens are hatched on our smallholding using our small group of broody henswe have 10 beautiful buff orpington hens available for salechickens hatched by broody hens are normally easier to introduce into existing hen groups than hens hatched in an incubatorall of our hens have been handfed treats since being chicks so are used to human contactthe minimum quantity for each sale will be 2 as hens are flock animals and do not thrive in isolationif you are a new chicken keeper check out our series "chicken keeping for beginners" we are registered as a business partnership as we do breed some extra hens to sell however we only sell a few hens each year just to cover the food bills and running costs for the chickenswe have an active youtube channel english country life (link in our contact details) with lots of tutorial videos for smallholders including many chicken keeping videosthis is because their brood hen teaches the chicks about flock dynamics and they understand their place in the pecking order very early onunlike egg laying breeds they continue laying eggs all year round (most breeds go off lay during winter) only stopping laying when they are either brooding or moultingthey do have broody tendencies and are excellent mothers if you choose to hatch some fertilised eggswe are not a large commercial breeder and all of our chickens have hands on contact with us every daythey have been free ranged in our grassed field and love grazing and exploringorpingtons are large, heavily feathered and of course, friendly birds

They were hatched out last summer by one of my broody henshello! i have two plymouth barred rock hens for sale, fondly known as salt and pepperplease remember to isolate new hens before introducing them to your flock ?? please feel free to ask me any questionsthey have been raised as backyard hens and being a large, heavy breed, it would be best that they went to a home with space for them to explore rather than a small, confined runthey are mostly very quiet hens, i’ve never even heard a peep out of pepperselling for £40 as they must go together, due to them being very close and raised togetherthey have been raised around cats and children and are part of a mixed flocksalt likes to be chatty at times - but she is quiet when roaming around and having things to exploresalt can be a bit skittish if she thinks you are trying to pick her uptherefore their new home would need to be a similar size set up or biggertherefore, they may be better suited to a home without neighbours in close proximitypossibly a more rural/semi-rural environmentthey are beautiful/striking birds and both lay medium sized eggsthey are a hardy, friendly and docile breed
