East sussex smallholders are back for the summer season with the new point of lay garden chickensif you have any spares, we will gladly take them:¬) we were delighted to be selected as the consultants by the production crew, and we recently featured as the chicken supplier to marcus wareings "tales from a kitchen garden" - where we taught smallholding skills and chicken keeping to celebrity chef and tv star marcus, on his journey to run his own smallholding up the road from us - so you can be sure that you are buying chickens from a very reputable sourceplease bear in mind before making a journey to see us - this isn't a corporate business with lots of staff, but a family home and garden, so definitely call or text to check we are available for visitors before comingour ladies are all vaccinated, and at 18 weeks old, they have just started laying their first small eggsyou will also need to bring a cardboard box, dog crate, cat carrier, as we don't tend to have spare boxes herewe are open every day for chicken collection, including this mothers day - we always have a good selection of: light sussex rhode rock / miss pepperpot blue haze / bluebelle gold speckedly skyline (blue / green egg layers) brown farm rangers calder red / french red our hens are lovingly cared for by us at our 5 acre smallholding, where we try to live as self sufficiently as possible, rearing our own food and vegetable garden

chickens make good petsif you haven't kept chickens before don't worry, just ask me and i will answer your questions on keeping chickens as petsonly £6 each! if you have ever had any chickens you know that to be trueif you hear it again that there is a food shortage for any reason (lack of lorry drivers, people with covid meaning they can't go to work, nobody to deliver to you) you will be glad that you are keeping chickens as you will always have eggs to eat and eggs are one of the most nutritious foods on the planet! are you going to be one of those who doesn't have to worry because you thought ahead and got yourself a few chickens? read moreif not why not try them outyou will be surprised and how loving they areif you take five or more you can have them at a discountthis is your opportunity to have pets with benefits! don't keep just one as they love company so it is best that you have two at least

Berry was broken in 4 years ago and has since been used as a light hack before arriving with myself as his owner could no longer ride him due to health complicationshe is fine for the dentist and vet (and is fully up to date with vaccinations)berry is fine to load but may need a few minutes to think about things as before coming to us he hadn’t traveled much, he’s a good travelerhe has beautiful paces and would be one to look out for in the show ringin the time i’ve had him berry had been schooled and bought into consistent work doing a bit of everything including jumping, schooling, cross country, pony club rallies (which he was amazing for) and hackingberry is great on the ground in general and is easy to handle and will stand happily to be groomed and fussed and has never nippedwith me he’s had a novice rider ride him on a hack and in the arena jumping and schooling and she even had her first canter on him which he was perfect forhe is perfect to tack up doesn’t even pull grumpy faces ! berry’s only vice is picking out his feet - with work he is now absolutely fine for us pick out his front ones but we are still continuing work on his back feet as he doesn’t like these being picked out he is improving but i would not trust him with a child to have his feet picked out yet, because of this he will need to be sedated for the farrier and his price reflects thisberry is lovely to ride and a favourite on the yard to hack as he is forward going but not strong (real push button type) and he is good in traffic and in open spacesthe world is his oysterberry is turned out in a mixed herd however he’s happy to be left on his ownhe loves jumping and has an extremely scopey jump, he can be unsure of new things as he hasn’t got much experience with jumping but is a very quick learner and i now have him jumping over planks fillers and cross country jumps with some basic work he never likes to touch a poleberry is a 13hh 13 year old dartmoor gelding
