P+p £3 dr bristol eggbutt by eldonian 5,3/4'' dr bristol snaffle, made from stainless steelbit strength: strong read moredr bristol eggbutt snaffle features: works primarily on the tongue with a sharp action due to the straight edged angled plate, and to a lesser degree on the barsthe centre plate in a dr bristol eggbutt is angled and flat edged, causing it to dig into the horses tongue when a strong contact it takenthe dr bristol is often confused with the french link as both have a plate in the middle, but the bristol snaffle is at the more severe end of the bitting spectrumit can be useful for strong horses or those that pull as tongue pressure is preferable to a bit that uses excessive bar pressure, the tongue cannot be deadened in the same way that a horses mouth bars can be over time
