This is why i have put “(a/f)” (or as found) in the titlei’m pretty certain it’s mahogany, but i’m not knowledgeable about woodsantique victorian/edwardian purdonium (coal box), mahogany, approx51x35x34 cm (a/f) here is a general description, but please refer to the photographsit is quite heavy – kgthe ‘floor’ has reinforcing blocks underneath, for extra strength (see last photo)apart from that, it appears to be in good, original condition(if these cannot be properly restored, one option would be to remove the gallery completely, and maybe put a glass top on the boxoriginal ornate brass handles and plates, one each side, one on the frontjust about square, with a tilting-out front door, and a metal liner inside – the metal liner has handles to lift it out for cleaning / re-loadingcondition it has (or had) a pillared gallery around 3 sides of the top – unfortunately, 1 side and the back (still joined) have come off, and several of the baluster-shaped pillars are missing (see 2nd photo)
