All of our young hens are hatched on our smallholding using our small group of broody henswe have 10 beautiful buff orpington hens available for salechickens hatched by broody hens are normally easier to introduce into existing hen groups than hens hatched in an incubatorall of our hens have been handfed treats since being chicks so are used to human contactthe minimum quantity for each sale will be 2 as hens are flock animals and do not thrive in isolationif you are a new chicken keeper check out our series "chicken keeping for beginners" we are registered as a business partnership as we do breed some extra hens to sell however we only sell a few hens each year just to cover the food bills and running costs for the chickensthey do have broody tendencies and are excellent mothers if you choose to hatch some fertilised eggsthey have been free ranged in our grassed field and love grazing and exploringwe are not a large commercial breeder and all of our chickens have hands on contact with us every dayunlike egg laying breeds they continue laying eggs all year round (most breeds go off lay during winter) only stopping laying when they are either brooding or moultingwe have an active youtube channel english country life (link in our contact details) with lots of tutorial videos for smallholders including many chicken keeping videosorpingtons are large, heavily feathered and of course, friendly birdsthis is because their brood hen teaches the chicks about flock dynamics and they understand their place in the pecking order very early on

Hi, we have made the difficult decision to let some of are laying hens goall of the hens above have laid this season and are coming in more day by daywe understand that most places have sold out and that people have been looking for hens as pets and all the benefits that come with themwhat is available: there are 3 warren hens, 2 leghorn hens, a bluebell and a light sussex hybrid all at £ they are 2 years old there is a 1 year old appenzeller hen at £ there is a 1 year old barred wyandotte bantam at £25 there maybe a couple more hens available if neededmaking sure everyone stays the correct distance apartsorry the photos are not the best i was in a rush to take themi will catch the birds you are after place them in a crate in the front garden when you arrive you can look and the birds then step back while we catch them for younormally when we sell birds we like to show people around and be hands on but given the current climate this would not be wiseif you would like any more information please do get in touchso these birds will be sold in a different way

They were hatched out last summer by one of my broody henshello! i have two plymouth barred rock hens for sale, fondly known as salt and pepperplease remember to isolate new hens before introducing them to your flock ?? please feel free to ask me any questionsthey have been raised as backyard hens and being a large, heavy breed, it would be best that they went to a home with space for them to explore rather than a small, confined runthey are mostly very quiet hens, i’ve never even heard a peep out of peppersalt can be a bit skittish if she thinks you are trying to pick her upthey are a hardy, friendly and docile breedthey are beautiful/striking birds and both lay medium sized eggsselling for £40 as they must go together, due to them being very close and raised togetherthey have been raised around cats and children and are part of a mixed flocksalt likes to be chatty at times - but she is quiet when roaming around and having things to exploretherefore their new home would need to be a similar size set up or biggertherefore, they may be better suited to a home without neighbours in close proximitypossibly a more rural/semi-rural environment

The cockerel is very impressive, both cocks and hens have lovely natures and they make excellent show birdssome of my other hens give up once one or two eggs have hatched and the other eggs get colddorkings are very docile, very tame, they never peck at me when collecting eggs or moving them to a different nest box like some of my other hens doit is believed that the dorking as a breed originated in italy during the reign of julius caesarthe dorking is a rare breed, they are very docile birds and perfect free rangers, loving to forage, they are really friendly and follow me around the fieldsthe birds are named after the market town of dorking in surrey which in the 19th century became one of the main centres of productionthey have always been prized for their white flesh and eating qualities more than their medium size white eggsdillon and the gang follow bravely on but tend to skirt around the sheep and meet up with her on the other side of the treehave 3 availablethe main distinctive feature is having five claws (as opposed to the normal four that other breeds have)silver grey dorking hens, hatched in an incubator earlier this yeardoris is as bold as brass and will march across the field to where the sheep are snoozing under the beech tree and strut through them like she owns the fieldthey were introduced to great britain and first appeared in the first british poultry show inthey are not pure but do have characteristic markings and '5 toes' - extra hind clawthey make excellent broody hens, waiting until all the eggs have hatched before leaving themthey are really friendly, have real characters and follow me around looking for titbitsthey are large foraging birds that require space as they are very active
