Ross of london supplied binoculars to the british and allied forces during ww1 and ww2this is a set of vintage ross of london, stepnite binoculars - 7 x 50 prismaticthis stepnite set probably date from just after ww2, and based on british army no 5 versionsthese superb binoculars represent the quality and craftsmanship produced by british engineering and manufacturing throughout ww2 and beyondduring ww2 bino prism no 5 - 7 x 50 binoculars were issued to the military for use by coastal watching and anti-aircraft searchlight unitslike their military counterparts, these binoculars have independently focused eyepieces to allow for the calibration of each eyepiece to the differences between the observers left and right eyes, and because no two individual’s eyes are the samemany military surplus parts were used in production just after the war and if you study the images carefully, you'll see the faint outline of an original mod crows-foot arrow stamp, and traces of a serial number on the left prism coverperfect for ww2 collectors, and period re-enactmentsthe lenses are still in good condition for their age, and the light paths are still clear with very little degradationthese were often painted over by the manufacturer so they could be sold for civilian usethe prisms are in good condition, and the collimation alignment is also goodalso included is a period (but as new) ww2 khaki canvas neck strap
