This exceptionally rare official ozalid disney studio print sheet shows fantastic atmosphere sketches drawn for pinocchio by gustaf tenggrenthe atmosphere sheet is in extremely good condition despite the small tear to the top edge, and was used in the production of the animation 80 years agotenggren's involvement in pinocchio was key to the stylising of the film as having come from europe, he brought a much needed sense of reality to the atmosphere of the old town and buildings, something the american animators could only guess atthe final version of these drawings appear on page 164 of didier ghez's book 'the hidden art of disney's golden age' (shown here for reference only)the surface of this print has a slight satin finish, similar to that of a developed photograph on satin paper from a dark-roomare you interested in this item? this item is up for auction at catawikithis sheet is unusually large measuring 415 x 318 mm and is a true piece of disney studio historycatawiki’s goal is to make special objects universally availableplease click on "respond to advert" (orange button) to get redirected to the catawiki websitethese sheets were passed around the studio to ensure artistic consistency throughout the productionthe ozalid printing process relies on a sensitised paper being developed using ammonia vapour, resulting in a very stable and long lasting print, often used by architects and early animation studios, as the sheets would have been handled over and overour weekly auctions feature thousands of unusual, rare, and exceptional objects you won’t find in just any storethis type of ozalid print would have been produced in house to ensure secrecy and hardly ever left the studios
