Harland & wolff - original art deco - 2 arm chairsthis is a pair of art deco chairs made by/for harland and wolff for one of their shipsthey are covered in a deco fan design, two colour, wool un-cut moquettemy grandparents used this as their lounge furniture until theirhouse was sold in the late 80’s at which point it was moved to my parents house, and when i movedto my own place i took it with mei have tried to find out what the patent was for but have drawn a blanki think the photos are true for the quality of the items - but i am happy to add more photos of detailed areas of wear if requiredmy grandfather bought the set in a sale at a shipyard in the mid 50's, along with many other pieces, and we believe these items came off the mv georgic when it was decommissionedavailable for collection onlyboth pieces are entirely original - so some wear and tear is obvious on piping around arm rests, and balding patches (again on arm rests) in places, the chairs are still in great condition in terms of springs and structureeach piece has a 'harland and wolff' metal plate on the basehappy to answer any questionsi suspect it is the construction of the pieces themselves - with their slotted back panelsthe pieces have removable backs that slot into a metalhousing in the base, so that they can be removed when carrying the pieces down narrow corridors (i think)
