A lovely antique oak boxed coin balance or scalethe balance also looks handmade & quite earlythe silk threads that would have attached the 2 brass pans to the balance have been lost in historythe balance itself is quite fine & made of steelin expected used but good condition for an item of this agei believe they're quite early around the s, but please do your own researchthe oak hardwood box has been cleaned by someone & is lovelypetite & very tactilethe needle pointer is also present & in good condition, as quite often these are damagedthe 3 wire loops are all still presentthey sometimes have a silk tassel to hold them from, which isn't presentapprox just under 5" long by just over 2 1/4" wide by just over 1" talleach side of where the pans sit have been hollowed out to allow round weights to be stored in one of the two side compartmentsplease do your own researchcan post at extra costpostage includes being signed forit has a hand made hook latch & wire hinges

The balance is very intricate & finely madeantique boxed coin balance/scales that i have owned for over 35 years2 slots are for weighs & one for the early iron balance itselfin expected used but good condition for an item of this agethere is green velvet inside, which has a little expected warethey look very early to me, i suspect from around the mid 'sit's amazing it's survivedthe pans have small circles on their inside, which is a nice touchit still has its original silk tassel to hold them byplease do your own research can post at extra costit's hook & hinges are all hand made from wirethe box measures approx 6 3/4" long at its longestthey have a nice hand written label on the inside of the lid, which states "foreign coin & english coin"the pointer needle is almost like a needle it's so finepostage includes being signed forthe hardwood box is in lovely condition & looks like mahoganyall hollowed out from a single piece of woodthere are 3 compartments inside
