An antique, marine, navigational boxwood & brass parallel rule, for restorationit's stamped "james imra & sons lim and norie & wilson london" also stamped "captn field's improved" (it might read imran) "john william norie (), was a mathematician, hydrographer, chart maker & publisher of nautical books most famous for his epitome of practical navigation () which became a standard work on navigation" "the parallel ruler was invented in about by fabrizio mordente but it was not in common use until the 18th c" in expected used condition for an item of this ageit would further benefit from a waxvery tactile & good in the handpostage includes being signed fori tend to prefer items as they areplease study the images, as they also form part of the description & please do your own researchcan post at extra costit has chips to the corners, has little dints/dents & has a few paint marks but is in nice original conditiona nice large size, as it measures 18" long by 2 3/4" it would look great on a desk or even wall mounted with some nautical bits

antique victorian solid cast brass lions head door knocker original patina large heavythere is a slight copper hue to the metal which i assume is due to the high copper content of the alloythere are 2 fixing bolts and a knockeri am not sure if knocker is original as it needs to be stripped of paintvery heavy and a beautiful rare example with a friendly face rather than a frightening one ! measures about 14cm wide, 21cm in length including the knocker and projects about 5cm outwards reclaimed from a victorian house in liverpool
