(the scales don't come with any weightsa rare style of antique postal scalesi have tried some of my own weights & suprisingly they're still fairly accuratethe weights in some of the images are just there to help to demonstrate that it balances)there are expected impact marks, where the bottom of the counter weight has impacted the wooden basethe underside of the base amazingly still has its original paper liningi'm sure they could be further improved by someone who knows what they're doing, but i've just left them in "as found" conditionthe centre pivot is just over 4 1/4" highi haven't noticed a maker stamp or nameon the flat brass plate it states; the graduated arm goes from 0 tothere's a large piece of lead screwed to the underside of the brass plate, i'm guessing to calibrate itthe flat brass plate also has two brass tabs, to prevent letters from migrating towards the graduated armthese are fresh to the market & rarely come up for sale, as they're getting very hard to findplease study the images, as they also form part of the description & please do your own researchin expected used condition for a balance of this age & naturepostage includes being signed forthe wooden base looks like it's split to the rare edge & has been historically gluedcan post at extra costthe base is approx just under " at its longest part & 5" at its widest partthere are a few scratches, both on the brass, the counter weight & on the wooden lacquered baseplease feel free to make an offerthey would polish up nicely tooi think they originally would have been silver or silver plated, as the counter weight still has some silvering on it
