(the scales don't come with any weightsa rare style of antique postal scalesi have tried some of my own weights & suprisingly they're still fairly accuratethe weights in some of the images are just there to help to demonstrate that it balances)i'm sure they could be further improved by someone who knows what they're doing, but i've just left them in "as found" conditionthere are a few scratches, both on the brass, the counter weight & on the wooden lacquered basecan post at extra costthe centre pivot is just over 4 1/4" highi haven't noticed a maker stamp or nameplease feel free to make an offerthe underside of the base amazingly still has its original paper liningthere are expected impact marks, where the bottom of the counter weight has impacted the wooden baseon the flat brass plate it states; the graduated arm goes from 0 toin expected used condition for a balance of this age & naturethe wooden base looks like it's split to the rare edge & has been historically gluedthere's a large piece of lead screwed to the underside of the brass plate, i'm guessing to calibrate itthe flat brass plate also has two brass tabs, to prevent letters from migrating towards the graduated armplease study the images, as they also form part of the description & please do your own researchthe base is approx just under " at its longest part & 5" at its widest partpostage includes being signed forthey would polish up nicely toothese are fresh to the market & rarely come up for sale, as they're getting very hard to findi think they originally would have been silver or silver plated, as the counter weight still has some silvering on it
