A Large Rare Antique Book of "Modern Practical Farriery" in Poor Condition.
Quite interesting for Equestrian & keepers of Horses.
It contains 528 pages, then at the back of the book, it strangely contains another 96 pages on "Diseases of Cattle, Sheep & Pigs". I can only assume that it's
designed to be a taster to get the reader to purchase more books on a similar subject matter.
The spine & corners are leather bound in red leather.
It's in poor condition, as there's lots of staining & discoloration on the front & back covers. There's a little foxing. A lot of the pages are loose & there is some spine damage.
However, it is still a very interesting book, with some great reference material.
It covers "history, varieties & uses, breaking, training, feeding, stabling & grooming. How to buy, keep & treat a horse in health & disease etc etc".
It would be a great piece of history for the equestrian, historian or farrier.
It's very large & heavy at approx 12 1/2" tall by 10".
