Item works well, although I cannot comment on the maximum speed as my internet speed is not fast, but it performs better than my other adapters. I like the small size, less chance of damaging the usb ports by knocking. In my case I had to download the latest drivers on windows 7 and 10, but that's easily done. I use the wifi adapter to supplement my laptops' built in adapter, so that I can print directly to a wifi printer without having to disconnect from the internet.
