In a nutshell. Pros: Good performance using windows 7 and Good Resolution. Nice features:Option to stop screen so it does not keep switching when you change it's orientation. Nice touch pen included (with the one i got anyway, but could do with somewhere to connect it to so it does not get lost). Sound volume good for watching movies. Front and back camera (quality ok for what it is). Hand writing recognition software option for input as well as the standard touch screen keyboard. Has a card reader that takes full size SD cards and not just micro SD cards, so more cards types can be accessed. Cons: No NIC port (purely wireless, could use a usb nic adaptor). Bad positioning of usb ports (at the side under the "acer" label). If you buy a case with keyboard it makes it difficult to use usb pen drives. This is my main mark-down issue. Would have liked a built in GPS facility. What I use it for: Watching movies and TV series online, Playing music, Browsing, Have word 2010 on it but do not use it much, Impressing friends. Hope this helps.(PS sorry about the formating.)Read full review
I've always wanted a tablet pc that could run Windows. Windows 7 is great, but it's not suited for a touch screen tablet. So I didn't really feel the urge to buy one. However, it all changed when I tried the Windows 8 preview. I tried it, loved it, had to have it on a tablet. So I did a little resarch on the net and saw that people had it running on the Acer Iconia W500. It looked good. I bought one. Installed Windows 8 and it works great! I think this tablet is around the minimum requirements for Windows 8, but it's surprisingly fast! Gets to the login screen in less than 15 seconds! Loads Word in about 1 second! Plug it into your TV via the HDMI port. Control it with a bluetooth keyboard. Stick a memory card in for more space. It runs Windows, so can do all the usual useful stuff just like a normal pc! Great build quality. Looks good. Nice responsive screen. The only bad point I can think of is that both of the USB ports are on the bottom. Little bit hard to get to when it's on a stand (I don't have the proper keyboard for it, apparently that has USB ports on it too). But at least it has USB ports! Great tablet! Well worth it!Read full review
Heavy weight machine that does what you expect from an Acer: reliable, consistent, perfect. PRO's: Together with a keyboard integrated in the sleeve (additional purchase on Ebay) a perfect small solution for even running MSOffice, games and 3D CAD software together in full gear, no problem. Good battery life, consistent WIFI, perfect runner. Win7 Home runs no problem, additional bought USB appliances no problem, perfect size. Use external HD for data, Acer for running the programs, no problem. Touch facilities OK. 10.1 size and small screen view no problem. Less PRO's: Quite heavy in weight, not what you expect from a tablet, double the weight of an Ipad. Shiny screen reflects in light or sunlight bit too much. USB connections could have been positioned on the side instead of on the bottom but got over that with 90 deg USB connectors and a hub. I'm using it as my side laptop next to my daily work computer for quick Internet searches, quick programming and 3D CAD (BricsSys CAD) researches from my evening lazy chair in combination with MSOffice and it does the job I got it for absolutely well. Conclusion: it does where I bought it for perfectly so Yes, absolutely recommendable for semi-production work andRead full review
If you are looking for a tablet which has windows capability then this is a good bet. Is it an i pad. No its not but its exactly what you need to link into your pc whether at work or home. Screen sensitive and the on screen keyboard is excellent. One of the best buys I've made.
If you're looking to get a Windows tablet with Windows 8 installed but don't mind losing out on little functionality like snapping apps or 10 finger touch screens, this is perfect. It runs Windows 8 Pro perfectly. I've had no issues with the device so far and think that it was a perfect item for me. The cameras are a little poor in terms of quality, but who really uses a tablet for taking pictures. The quality seems to be fine in Skype or other apps but just looks fuzzy in the official Camera app for Windows 8.
