Though over eight years old the Canon Powershot S90 is still highly capable. Image stabilisation, a wide f2 aperture and an oversized sensor all make for superb low-light photography, for example rock gigs in small venues without professional lighting rigs. Only the ergonomics let it down: the S90 looks beautiful, but the styling makes it difficult to hold as it's so tiny and smooth, and the buttons are maddeningly positioned a few millimetres from where your fingers expect them to be.

I wanted a compact alternative to my dslr and have to say that I've been hugely impressed by the s90. Image quality is excellent for a compact - much better than I expected. The ability to shoot Raw and Jpeg simultaneously is perfect for me and the very small size means it is easily pocketable (compared to say the G12). The intelligent auto means you can leave it to the camera to sort out settings if you wish or it has a good variety of user settings for the more adventurous. One thing I didn't expect is how well it can handle low-light evening shots. You can get remarkably sharp handheld shots without flash and without a lot of noise. Only downsides I've found are that you shouldn't expect shallow depth of field shots (as with any compact really) and the lack of a grip means it isn't always the easiest camera to hold if you have big clumsy hands like me.Read full review
Brilliant Camera. It is very quick and has a great sensor that picks up light even in dark environments. The handling is easy and everything is where you would expect it. On 'Auto' it will do everything for you, on manuel you can have the freedom to use it as you would with a DSLR. A highlight is the front wheel, individually programmable with whatever function you may which. It comes with a good 28-125mm lens which is also very good, and produces great photos. It is a photographers camera and is made for taken photographs and not videos, and as such it does not record HD but due to its good lens, the video is of a good standard. You cannot change focus during filming either, but again, it is not a video camera. I love it, and would highly recommend it.
This was a very expensive compact when launched, packed with features very like an SLR. Pocket sized nad easy to use. Controls easy to hand and takes cracking shots.
