I wanted to fit a camcorder to my boat to record some of my trips. I already own a 3CCD Panasonic miniDV and the HD version of this latest one but I needed a small, lightweight non-HD camcorder and this fits the bill. It's easy to use and produces quality good enough for my purposes. One down side is the manual lens cover but I can live with that and for the price I can hardly complain. I didn't use the HD version as I've found a flaw in that technology. If you want to produce video on DVD, which I do, then unless you have a Blue Ray player you cannot watch your masterpiece back in HD. It doesn't matter how good your HD camera, you'll still only see it in non-HD. You can only watch it in HD if you connect direct to the TV. So, my need to produce DVD led me to this little camcorder. It has all the usual features such as scene mode, intelligent auto and manual modes, and the best thing of all is the 70x optical zoom, for which you'll obviously need a tripod. I never use digital zoom but it's there. So, if you need a solid little camcorder with an excellent zoom and at a budget price then have a look at this one.Read full review
rather disappointed with this model, I bought it to replace a JVC c/corder, that started being sometime's "unresponsive". but the "SDR S50" doe's not deliver as good as the JVC (when the JVC is operating correctly)prior to the fault developing with the JVC, it delivered a much better result. I did not realise that Panasonic SD 50, was just "SD" (I know, "stupid" yeah) I assumed that all modern c/corders were "HD". However, I will be selling the Panasonic on, and looking for something else, and before I buy, this time, I will look for reviews first. PS, there is NO sd card with it either.so you have to purchase one before you can try it out!.
easy to use
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned
Simple and easy to use. Software cd really useful for editing video. The built in shock is really good and you can create some really steady film without a tripod.
this review is for the SDR-S70,i got this for the excellant zoom ,works very good ,the price paid was very good (£110.00.)if you look around! the size and weight is very good could carry it around all day and not notice it is there ,very easy to use and operate ,.THE downside is NO ,sd card supplied, the battery supplied will give you approximately 40 minutes recordind time approximately the uprated battery from panasonic is very expensive £90.00 plus, overall a good usable item.panasonic do not make a carry bag for accessories..
